A converting input, not a retail roll
A tissue parent roll is a large reel of tissue paper supplied for downstream converting. The converter rewinds, cuts, folds, embosses or packs the paper into products such as toilet tissue, facial tissue, napkins and hand towels.
The same broad term may appear as parent roll, jumbo roll or mother roll. In a buying discussion, the exact intended finished product matters more than the label used for the reel.
Why the finished product comes first
Paper that is suitable for one converting application may not be the right choice for another. The target product helps define the required material, basis weight, ply construction, softness, strength and converting behavior.

What a useful inquiry includes
A buyer does not need to know every field before starting. An existing specification sheet, product photo, current sample description or machine requirement can give the supply team a practical starting point.
The final specification should be confirmed against the converting line and the approved product brief rather than assumed from a generic parent-roll description.
